Fiction and Non Fiction

Fiction means that stories in books are made up and not real.

Non Fiction means the facts and information in the books is true and happened in real life.

I looked for Fiction and Non Fiction books in my house and took photos of them with my mums phone then put them in pic collage

 Here are my collages.

I also took a photo of this book The Cat From Muzzle. It is a true story but some of it is also made up. I didn't know where it went so it has a photo by itself because it is half of each. Do you know where it should go?

Our Campervan Trip

In the school holidays our family went on a campervan trip.

Day 1. On our first day in the campervan we spent the day driving to Tekapo. Nannie and Gramps followed us in their own campervan it was green and purple. Ours was a Britz one it was big and white. We stopped in Geraldine and went on a big bouncy castle on the way down. When we got to Tekapo we met our friends Emma and Mya at the camping ground. They stayed there as well in their own caravan. Tekapo was pretty and freezing. Me and my sister Emilie slept up the top of our campervan in a bunk.

Day 2. We did snow tubing and it was so much fun we slid down a big huge hill and then you could do it as many times until you got up to four times. Then we went to the hot pools and we tried lots of different ones. There was a kids water thing and a water fountain to go under and there was even a cold pool. I don't know why there was a cold pool? We threw rocks at a frozen lake and it was really icy and I found a rock that looked like a bird nest.

Day 3. We walked to the Church of the Good Shepard and it was so cold and foggy it snowed a bit. We took some photos then we drove to Oamaru and it was very cold and we stopped to feed the salmon. We threw food into the lake and they jumped up and ate it and splashed. When we got to Oamaru we went to Riverstone kitchen to have lunch and Daddy pushed me in a go cart and then Mummy came to see the peacocks and we went to the gift shop and I bought a rainbow puppy. Mike, Emma and Myas Dad lit a big fire and we had sausages for dinner and toasted marshmallows and we played with torches in the dark. We painted rocks in the campground lounge.

Day 4. We rode some horses. The horse was white and gentle. We went to the Moeraki boulders we got to climb on them and I found a small bit of a boulder and crystal. They were big grey circles which looked liked dinosaur eggs and they were at the beach. Then we drove to Dunedin and saw a star show at the planetarium at Otago Museum.  I learned lots of things from the planetarium about the stars. Their is pointer stars pointing to the southern cross and when you draw two lines down from the pointer stars and southern cross that is the SCP the southern celestial pole. The southern celestial pole is the spot that never moves in the sky and helps you find your way or navigate. In the old they used the stars to find to their way because there were no phones or iPads or compasses. We went to the butterfly house and saw lots of butterflies and they flew everywhere and one landed on my head we also leaned over a waterfall and got soaking wet.

Day 5. Day 5 we went back to the Museum and did a scavenger hunt about Matariki through the whole museum and got a lollipop at the end and we watched some science experiments. Then we went to OCHO chocolate factory and tasted 9 types of chocolate. They use lots of big machines to make the chocolate. It was very yummy. We bought some it was dark chocolate.
Then we went to Larnach Castle. It was really big.  We went through all the rooms and upstairs through a windy steep staircase to the top to see the view. We went to the cafe in ballroom. Mr Larnach built it as a birthday present for his Daughter Kate when she was 21. After dinner gentlemen went into a library and smoked and ladies went into the drawing room to sew. The sewing needles were made out of elephant tusks. The babies had Nannies and when they were old enough the children went to boarding schools in England.

Day 6. We said bye to Emma and Mya and drove home to Christchurch. I loved our campervan trip I am sad it is over but we are going again in September.

My Risotto

The day before mother’s day I made risotto for my family for dinner. My mum helped me but I did most of it myself. Here is my recipe.
First I put olive oil in the pan, then I put chopped up leek and bacon. I let that cook. In a separate pot I heated up chicken stock.
After the leak and bacon cooked I put in white wine. It is okay because it just leaves the flavour and the alcohol goes away and evaporates. Then I put in 2 cups of arborio rice.
I put in a big spoonfuls of chicken stock and mixed and wait for the liquid to go into the rice, then put in two more spoonfuls and wait again and I did that about 10 times. The rice puffed up and got bigger. To finish it off I put parmesan cheese and butter and pepper.
We didn’t put any other vegetables in because my Daddy doesn’t like them in risotto. I am very good at eating healthy foods I like broccoli and carrots and cucumber and cauliflower and corn and peas and mushrooms and beans and asparagus and I love pickles and I love spaghetti squash. I don’t like tomato or onion or avocado.
Everyone liked my risotto. They said it was very good Daddy said next time can you make more so I can have 2 or 3 bowls Freya said that she didn’t like it but then she tricked me and really liked it.
Do you like risotto?

Bike riding

Before the  lockdown I didn’t like  biking but  now I  love biking because I practice alot.  Most days I have been biking 3 or 4 kilometers. The other day I went biking 7 kilometers  and I biked to my auntie’s house. I biked  past the poppies on anzac drive. I also biked past QE2 even past  my old kindy. A big flock of black and white Canadian geese flew over my head. They were going south. They honked really loudly. I fell off my bike into a dark green bush and my almost fell on top of me. Biking makes me feel happy. I went on a bike track but I feel off two times. My drink bottle fell on the ground so dad had to squirt it into my mouth and my tshirt got wet. Mum and Dad are going to buy me a new bike with gears because I bike a lot now.
